One Monday morning on a Mayday many years ago, or maybe it was more recently, I can't remember. A young boy in a windbreaker could be found on a hill, in a pasture. Invincible to the breeze that moved the grass.
Determinedly running back and forth pulling something on a string. He ran one way for a distance, let out a sigh, then ran back the other way and would groan.
run, sigh, run, groan, run sigh, run groan.
He was trying to get his kite off the ground and was having a heck of a time.
He ran back and forth, and each time the kite lifted for a moment before plummeting back to the ground.
Finally, he got the kite airborne for a few more moments. This time, it was almost as if he had it! But he didn’t have it. It crashed to the ground again.
He was defeated.
This couldn't keep him down, instead he quickly turned back to the determination he had before, he was going to get this thing to fly dang it!
He ran again, as fast as he could, and this time, he pulled the kite high up in to the air, just then a gust came and gave it the boost he needed.
It soared.
Beautiful and colorful streamers trailing behind it in the spring breeze. He smiled, and the birds flying alongside it smiled too.
Getting my kite stuck in a tree is not my favorite thing.
